Portfolio

Your IT Minor Portfolio: Desired Outcomes

A key part of ITEC4610 is the capstone portfolio. The portfolio has two general goals:

  • Document application of core competencies learned through the IT Minor program
  • Demonstrate to potential employers the value you could offer as an employee with skills obtained through the IT Minor program

Your portfolio will be a demonstration of your skills, your personality, and your career goals, so you can expect your portfolio to be different from those created by your classmates. At a minimum, however, all IT Minor portfolios should be delivered in a web-based digital format and demonstrate the following:

Assignment
1/17/2018 2/28/2018 Gather your artifacts for your portfolio. In the Artifact Catalog, describe what you did and support with an artifact. You may have to take numerous static screenshots of an assignment, then develop verbiage to describe the assignment. This will take a signficant amount of writing. In your ITEC Google Drive, create a folder name it "ITEC 4610".  Make sure the folder is shared with blbauer@ualr.edu, tswallace@ualr.edu, and cljohnston@ualr.edu. Within the ITEC 4610 folder, create the following:
  • Artifact Catalog - Google Document containing the name of your artifact and a detailed description. The detailed description should be the verbiage that you will use in your portfolio.
  • Artifacts - Folder in which you will upload your artifacts or a link to the artifact.
2/28/2018 3/14/2018 Begin work on your portfolio:
  • Determine how you are going to develop your portfolio. You are required to build the site using either Wordpress or a hand coded website (use of Boilerplate, Bootstrap, or some other foundation is fine).
  • You will be required to host your portfolio on a public webspace, such as Wordpress.org or a Bluehost-like account (Beware the limitations of using Wordpress.org). You are welcome to use Cloud 9 to develop your site, but it has to reside in a public webspace before the last day of the semester.
  • Your assignment is to begin developing or selecting a theme for your site. You should also have working navigation to your major webpages. You do not have to put the content on the page (yet).
  • Email a link of your portfolio (even if it is Cloud 9) to blbauer@ualr.edu
3/26/2018 4/4/2018 You will be finishing your project. Not a good time to work on your portfolio unless you have some slack time.
4/9/2018 4/25/2018 Add your content to your portfolio
4/30/2018 4/30/2018 Present your portfolio to the class. Your presentation must reside on a public webspace. To receive full credit for your portfolio, you must email a link of your portfolio to blbauer@ualr.edu.

Who Am I?
