Blackboard Collaborate Ultra
Online classroom sessions use Blackboard Collaborate Ultra. Login to Blackboard (http://blackboard.ualr.edu) and select the course. On the left of your screen, open: Control Panel -> Course Tools -> Blackboard Collaborate Ultra. Click on the classroom session for the current date/time (usually the top one). Once you have connected to the session, you should test your microphone and camera. (circles in lower center of the screen). Here are some tips:
- There are no downloads needed. I have found that Google Chrome on a PC, MAC, or Chromebook works really well with Blackboard Collaborate Ultra. You will be prompted to download a browser add-on the first time you use Blackboard Collaborate Ultra.
- If you are uncomfortable using your camera, you may turn your camera off.
- It is mandatory that you have a microphone so that you can join in on discussions or ask complicated questions. Quite often, it is simply more efficent to say your question rather than chat about it. You are welcome to use the online chat, however I am often in full screen mode and cannot see the chat window unless I check on it. Use the "raise hand button" to let me know you have a question.
- Please mute your microphone during the classroom session so no extraneous noises are picked up
- Use the "raise hand button" to ask a question. I will finish my thought then invite you to speak. Unmute you microphone and begin the conversation. At the end of the conversation, please mute your microphone.
- If you have a complicated question, please use your microphone.
- If you want to review a recording, click the "hamburger" (the 3 horizontal bars in the upper left of you window), then click session recordings. Click the date/time of the session that you want to view.
- The user manual can be found at: Blackboard Collaborate Ultra

Students with Disabilities:
Your success in this class is important to me, and it is the policy and practice of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock to create inclusive learning environments consistent with federal and state law. If you have a documented disability (or need to have a disability documented), and need an accommodation, please contact me privately as soon as possible, so that we can discuss with the Disability Resource Center (DRC) how to meet your specific needs and the requirements of the course. The DRC offers resources and coordinates reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities. Reasonable accommodations are established through an interactive process among you, your instructor(s) and the DRC. Thus, if you have a disability, please contact me and/or the DRC, at 501-569-3143 (V/TTY) or 501-683-7629 (VP). For more information, please visit the DRC website at www.ualr.edu/disability.
